| The WFD is an international gathering of scholars, civic and religious leaders, labor and business leaders, and former government officials brought together to discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by the democratic process. |
The goal of the forum, which convened parallel to a gathering of more than 100 foreign ministers from democratic and democratizing states, is "to assess challenges created by democracy's expansion, including globalization, humanitarian intervention, international law, transitions to open and free societies, promotion of minority rights, and the rule of law." |
To publicize the conference and provide detailed information to those unable to attend, Freedom House employed Scout Productions for the design and creation of the World Forum on Democracy Web site. The objective was to create a customizable site whose design was consistent with the theme of democracy. |
All HTML was produced in an easily-updated template format to simplify the process of site updates and press releases, allowing the site's organizers to make updates to the site throughout the conference.
In addition to providing information on conference speakers, schedules, and press releases, the site acts as a distribution point for transcripts of conference events and news, allowing conference attendees to collect daily conference info, and allowing individuals unable to attend the forum in person to follow it remotely.
